Using fNIRS to Verify Trust in Highly Automated Driving

چکیده
Trust in automation is crucial for the safe and appropriate adoption of automated driving technology. Current research methods to measure trust mainly rely on subjective scales, with several intrinsic limitations. This empirical experiment proposes a novel method objectively, using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). Through manipulating participants’ expectations regarding credibility, we have induced successfully measured opposing levels automation. Most notably, our results evidence two separate yet interrelated cortical mechanisms distrust. demonstrably linked decreased monitoring working memory, whereas distrust event-related strongly tied affective (or emotional) mechanisms. paper that situation awareness are during usage. Our findings developing future driver state technology mitigates impact inappropriate reliance, or over trust, systems.

Human-machine Cooperation in Highly Automated Driving
This paper presents a concept for a highly automated vehicle which allows for adaption to and cooperation with a human driver. This addresses the problem of vehicle automation level 3, as defined by the NHTSA, where a vehicle is capable of being driven automatically, but the human driver is still in charge from a legal point of view.

Governments should be uncompromising in jointly seeking both information and privacy goals for the data that is in their stewardship. The GAO’s 2001 report on Record Linkage and Privacy places a combined high priority on information gains and privacy issues–and presents this position in contrast to an alternative “zero-sum approach” that conceptualizes privacy and information mainly, or only in...
متن کاملOptimal Trajectories for Highly Automated Driving
In this contribution two approaches for calculating optimal trajectories for highly automated vehicles are presented and compared. The first one is based on a non-linear vehicle model, used for evaluation. The second one is based on a simplified model and can be implemented on a current ECU. In usual driving situations both approaches show very similar results. Keywords—Trajectory planning, dir...
متن کاملHow the driver wants to be driven - Modelling driving styles in highly automated driving
In recent years considerable research has been carried out in the field of autonomous driving as it opens up new opportunities for individual mobility. The increasing level of automation associated with changes in the driver’s role from active to passive raises new questions of driver-vehicleinteraction. This research focuses on a fundamental aspect of this change: Is it possible to model a cus...

What determines the choice of a production technology within a country? While there could be many factors, the e¢ ciency of the countrys nancial system may play a signi cant role. To address this question, a dynamic contract model is embedded into a general equilibrium setting with competitive intermediation. The ability of an intermediary to monitor the activity of a rm plays an important r...
